Description

1942/1-D Mercury Dime, MS64 Full Bands
Denver Mint Overdate

1942/1-D 10C FS-101 MS64 Full Bands PCGS. While the Philadelphia overdate was discovered soon after production, the Denver Mint version was discovered much later with its first publication in the November 1960 issue of the Numismatic Scrapbook Magazine. The late discovery is a reason for the rarity of this issue in Mint State grades as no one was looking for them over the first 18 years. This sharply detailed Choice Mint State example has frosty silver luster and hints of peripheral gold toning. Population: 48 in 64 (4 in 64+) Full Bands, 39 finer (12/24).
Ex: Stack's Bowers (5/2019), lot 1055.
From The Charlton Buckley Collection.
