Description
1919-D Half Dollar
Highly Lustrous, Choice Mint State
1919-D 50C MS64 PCGS. CAC. A condition rarity in the Walking
Liberty series, the 1919-D invariably is known for one of the
poorer strikes of the early dates. This near-Gem example is sharper
than many, with weakness through the centers but it is less
pronounced than expected. The surfaces are lightly toned and
iridescent showing light-blue and translucent champagne-gold hues
on both sides that meld into rainbow colors at the margins.Mint luster shines brightly across both sides satin-smooth fields and terrific eye appeal. A few tiny marks appear where the strike is incomplete, and some light lines are noted near the eagle's beak, yet the overall quality is excellent as confirmed by the well-deserved CAC endorsement. Few examples of this challenging Denver date are finer. Population: 77 in 64 (3 in 64+), 12 finer. CAC: 20 in 64, 2 finer (6/16).
