Description

1912-S Half Dollar, Brilliant MS66
Ex: Eliasberg, Tied for Finest at PCGS

1912-S 50C MS66 PCGS Secure. CAC. Ex: Shireman / Eliasberg. This breathtaking example has prooflike tendencies that suggest it may have been a presentation piece. Radiant brilliance characterizes each side, allowing reflective fields to shine forth with undiminished intensity. The surfaces are undeniably high-end for the grade, as they appear free of even the most trivial mark. Raised die polish lines near the OLL in DOLLAR are evident under magnification. These features point to an early die state and lend further credence to the special circumstances under which this coin was possibly struck. Definitely among the finest, if not the finest example extant. Population: 8 in 66, 0 finer (11/15).
