Description

1879-CC Morgan Dollar, MS64
In an Old Green Holder

1879-CC $1 MS64 PCGS. CAC. After the well-known 1889-CC, the 1879-CC Morgan dollar is the scarcest date in the Carson City short set in Mint State. The GSA sales yielded only 4,123 pieces, a number paling in comparison to the high six-figure populations of some later 1880s issues. When encountered, the typical Uncirculated 1879-CC grades in the MS62 to MS64 range. Finer examples are seldom seen. This Choice representative is well-struck, with frosty luster that shows just a hint of golden toning around the peripheries. Abrasions are minimal, limited to a few tiny grazes on the cheek and in the adjacent field. An outstanding coin, CAC-approved in an old green label holder. We look forward to seeing to high-end MS64 coin cross the auction block.(Registry values: P7, N2998)
