Description

1869 Ten Dollar, AU55
Only 1,830 Strikes for Circulation

1869 $10 AU55 NGC. A mere 1,830 circulation strikes were produced of the 1869 ten dollar. This low mintage make this issue a compelling one for specialists. However, few high grade (AU or better) examples are known. Because of the low number produced, the initial die polish did not wear off, and all the coins we have seen show a prooflike finish. This is a bright coin whose semireflective finish is only subdued by slight handling and a few small abrasions. The strike is just a bit soft over the high points. Census: 8 in 55, 8 finer (1/14).
