Exceptionally Smooth Surfaces

1850-O $20 XF45 PCGS. Variety 2. The New Orleans Mint received a number of gold deposits from California mining operations in 1850, and struck 141,000 double eagles. This was the first coinage of the denomination at a branch mint, and most examples circulated extensively. This Choice XF survivor displays remarkably smooth yellow-gold surfaces and satiny fields with some luster.(Registry values: N1793)
