Description

1851-O Twenty Dollar, AU55
Appealing and Sharp

1851-O $20 AU55 PCGS Secure. Variety 2. With a mintage of 315,000 pieces, the 1851-O is the most plentiful double eagle struck at the New Orleans Mint. But it is still significantly scarcer than the Philadelphia issue of this date, particularly in high grade. The Choice AU surfaces of this piece offer sharp detail and bright, satiny yellow-gold color. Some semiprooflike reflectivity is visible in the protected portions of the fields. Few finer examples are certified at PCGS. Population: 48 in 55, 35 finer (4/18).(Registry values: N1793)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 268J, PCGS# 8905, Greysheet# 9844)
