1879 Morgan Pattern Dollar, PR65

1879 $1 Morgan Dollar, Judd-1611, Pollock-1807, R.6, PR65 NGC. The obverse is identical to that used to produce regular issue 1879 Morgan dollars. The reverse, on the other hand, shows an eagle with spread wings that is different from the regular issue design. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is around the border; the denomination ONE DOLLAR is at the bottom. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. This lovely Gem features exceptional gold, blue, and iridescent toning over mirrored fields and lightly frosted devices. Possibly as many as 20 examples of Judd-1611 survive. NGC has certified 10 of these including PR68 Cameo, PR67, PR66 Cameo, PR65 (3), PR64 (3), and PR60 (7/25).
