Description

1853-D Gold Dollar, MS60
Attractive Dahlonega Gold Dollar

1853-D G$1 MS60 PCGS. Winter 5-G. Orange-gold surfaces are fully lustrous on both sides. Light hairlines and tiny abrasions preclude a higher grade, but none individually are consequential. Nonetheless, wear is still completely absent. Some planchet roughness and striking weakness on the high points are as expected. Of the six Type One Dahlonega issues, this has the third lowest mintage at 6,583 coins, just edged out by the 1852-D at 6,360 and trailed by the 1854-D at 2,935 coins. A rare issue in Mint State.(Registry values: N4719)
