Description
1848-O WB-101 Seated Half, Frosty MS64
Ex: Dick Osburn Collection
1848-O 50C WB-101, Die Pair 17, R.3, MS64 PCGS. Ex: Dick
Osburn Collection. Lightly toned, frosty, and lustrous, this
sharply struck near-Gem ranks among the finest of the New Orleans
date and certainly of its die pair, which was headed for its
imminent demise in the final use of the obverse and the sole use of
a heavily cracked reverse. Nearly full details attend the devices
despite the advanced state of the dies. Shades of lilac,
peach-gold, and pearlescent silver provide exceptional eye appeal,
seldom seen on this or any O-Mint issue. Population (all varieties
combined): 5 in 64, 4 finer (11/16).Coin Index Numbers: (Variety PCGS# 572065, Base PCGS# 6261)
Weight: 13.36 grams
Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
