proof Morgan dollars were struck in 1884, all from the same pair of
dies. The proofs were struck early in the year and it is possible
that some examples went unsold. Any remaining stragglers would have
been melted after the end of the year, reducing the meager supply
for future generations of coin collectors.This spectacular PR68 example is sharply detailed throughout, with rich mint frost that makes the devices stand out dramatically against the brightly mirrored fields.
