1893-CC Liberty Head Half Eagle, MS62

1893-CC $5 MS62 NGC. A nominal mintage of 60,000 half eagles was achieved at the Carson City Mint in 1893, the last year of coinage at the famous facility. Doug Winter estimates a surviving population of 375-475 pieces in all grades, with 60-80 examples in Mint State. The present coin is a sharply detailed MS62 specimen,, with marginally prooflike surfaces and light greenish-gold color. Census: 68 in 62, 31 finer (1/11).(Registry values: P2)
