Description
Lovely Select 1925-S Double Eagle
1925-S $20 MS63 PCGS. As is often the case for later mintmarked Saint-Gaudens double eagle issues, the original mintage (almost 3.8 million pieces) is out the window, and the small combined certified population takes precedence. This striking Select survivor has a potent, almost brassy sheen to the bright yellow-gold surfaces. The overall detail is strong, and though a few marks of varying intensity are present on each side, the eye appeal is notable. On the reverse, a thin but noticeable die crack arcs through the eagle's beak. PCGS has certified 33 finer examples (8/08).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26GC, PCGS# 9182, Greysheet# 10181)
