1652 Willow Tree Sixpence
Noe 1-A, VF Details
Important Massachusetts Rarity

1652 6PENCE Willow Tree Sixpence -- Plugged -- NGC Details. VF. Noe 1-A, W-130, Salmon 1-A, High R.6. 30.8 gn. Only a single Willow Tree sixpence variety is known, Noe 1-A. Just 14 examples have been confirmed. Regardless of denomination, Willow Tree silver pieces are very rare and desirable. The present sixpence exhibits a slightly off-center strike on both sides, toward the left. Attractively toned, this specimen features hues of gold, sea-green, and sky-blue. Aside from the far-right portion, the willow tree design is nicely detailed. The date on the reverse was impacted due to multiple punches on that side, though the majority is legible. Listed on page 40 of the 2018 Guide Book.
Ex: Central States Signature (Heritage, 4/2014), lot 5476; Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 6/2015), lot 3732.
