Underrated Branch-Mint Issue

1857-D G$1 AU58 PCGS. Variety 9-L. The 1857-D gold dollar is an underrated issue from a small mintage of 3,533 pieces. Probably no more than 120-130 examples survive in all grades. This attractive near-Mint specimen retains almost all of its original design detail and mint luster, and the pleasing greenish-gold surfaces show only minor abrasions. Population: 19 in 58, 15 finer (10/12).(Registry values: N2998)
