Description
1925-D Double Eagle, MS64
Few Known Finer
1925-D $20 MS64 PCGS. The distinctive surfaces of this
scarce, semikey issue combine rich reddish-gold and lilac color
over each side for exceptional eye appeal. Mattelike surfaces have
an overlay of thick mint frost, and there are surprisingly few
post-striking distractions, large or small. The strike is sharp --
just slightly less than full -- and the often-seen die crack
through the eagle's beak and the left periphery is present. The
1925-D is a high-mintage issue made rare by the subsequent meltings
of the 1930s, when most of the mintage was obliterated. PCGS has
certified only eight coins numerically finer, plus six in 64+
(3/20).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26GB, PCGS# 9181, Greysheet# 10180)
