Early San Francisco Issue

1855-S $5 AU58 PCGS. The San Francisco Mint struck 61,000 half eagles in its first full year of operation. Those coins generally circulated extensively, and survivors are seldom seen this well-preserved. Luster remains around nicely detailed devices, and the surfaces exhibit pleasing red-gold color with small, unimportant abrasions. Population: 16 in 58 (1 in 58+), 2 finer (3/22).(Registry values: P7)
