1797 Ten Dollar, XF Details
Large Eagle Reverse, BD-4
1797 $10 Large Eagle XF40 PCGS Genuine -- Filed Rims -- XF
Details. BD-4, High R.4. The die crack rising through the last
7 in the date and the Large Eagle reverse with long, thick neck on
the eagle are sufficient to make the attribution, since this was
the only 1797-dated obverse die used with this reverse. Despite the
PCGS caveat, this piece offers much to commend itself. The surfaces
show considerable detail remaining, and the rim filing appears
limited to a small area beneath the date. The color is an
attractive yellow-orange. A few notable marks appear on the
reverse, including at the right wing and right shield corner, a rim
nick at the C of AMERICA, and a couple of the clouds below
