Description

1882-CC Five Dollar, MS62+ CAC
Important Conditional Rarity

1882-CC $5 MS62+ PCGS. CAC. Winter 1-A. Ex: The Fairmont Collection. The 1882-CC is a scarcer Carson City issue, and Mint State examples are seldom encountered. The present coin is one of the finest known. The apricot-gold surfaces teem with luster. The strike is fairly sharp, though the obverse dentils show softness near 5:30, 6:30, and 9:30. Although Uncirculated half eagles are known for abrasions on the fields and portrait, this lot is relatively unabraded. Unobtainable any finer with CAC confirmation, and there is only one piece graded finer each at NGC and PCGS. Population: 13 in 62 (2 in 62+), 1 finer. CAC: 2 in 62, 0 finer (11/24).(Registry values: P3)
