Description
1915-S Panama-Pacific Dollar, MS67
Appealing Top-Grade Example
1915-S G$1 Panama-Pacific Gold Dollar MS67 PCGS. Even though
they are by different designers, the frolicking dolphins on the
reverse of this Charles Keck one dollar gold design are
reminiscent, nowadays at least, of the 16 dolphins cavorting in the
vertices of the fifty dollar octagonal Pan-Pac commemorative,
designed by Robert Aitken. All four of the Pan-Pac gold designs are
appealing, although the one dollar obverse is an Everyman design, a
simple Panama Canal worker in a cap, rather than the Neoclassical
designs of the quarter eagle and fifty dollar coins. This Superb
Gem boasts effulgent luster amid excellent surface preservation and
attractive golden-orange patina with glints of pale jade in the
interstices. The eye appeal is top-shelf. Population: 67 in 67, 0
finer (3/16).From The Paul Denby Collection of U.S. Gold Commemoratives.(Registry values: N4719)
