Description
1885 Twenty Dollar, AU Sharpness
Highly Sought Low-Mintage Issue
Just 751 Pieces Struck
1885 $20 -- Cleaned -- NGC Details. AU. This low-mintage
date is in demand regardless of its numeric grade (or lack
thereof). Light marks dot the surfaces of this vibrant orange-gold
example. As noted on the holder, the coin shows evidence of
cleaning -- in this case polishing -- with scattered, feathery
hairlines on the reflective surfaces that may have been buffed to
their create their prooflike sheen. Quite likely, the coin was
prooflike before any cleaning took place. The end result is an
overly bright coin that maintains moderate eye appeal. The full
strike from the circulation strike dies remains intact. Only 751
circulation strikes were produced. From The Mississippi Collection of Double Eagles.
