Attractive San Francisco Issue

1863-S $20 AU58 PCGS. Breen 7217. Small S. The 1863-S Liberty Head twenty dollar gold always has weakness in the strike, mostly on the obverse with stars and hair detail, but the reverse displays strong definition in the shield lines and eagle feathers. Attractive tangerine toning blankets both sides. Lightly abraded surfaces have abundant luster that has a slightly grainy texture. An overall pleasing 1863-S double eagle.(Registry values: N1793)
