Description

1788 1/2 C Massachusetts Half Cent AU53 PCGS. Ryder 1-B, R.3. Only two varieties are known for 1788-dated Half Cents, which are scarcer than their 1787 counterparts. A crisply detailed walnut-brown Commonwealth Copper with a possible fingerprint on the left obverse. There are no conspicuous marks. Although state coinage was allowed in the Articles of Confederation, the U.S. Constitution removed this privilege. Listed on page 39 of the 2004 Guide Book.(#308)
