MS66 1908-S Indian Head Ten
Flashy Surfaces With Thick Mint Frost

1908-S $10 MS66 NGC. The 1908-S Indian Head eagle is one of five issues for the year that can be collected between Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco and the No Motto and Motto types, since San Francisco struck only the latter, in the meager amount of 59,850 pieces. Since there were no branch-mint productions of the first-year 1907 Indian tens, it appears that some savvy collectors in and around San Francisco must have hung onto some of the new-design coins of the 1908 vintage, as there are some remarkably high-grade survivors for such a low mintage.
The present Premium Gem boasts the thick, fabulous mint frost typically seen on 1908-S fives, tens, and twenties, over surfaces that are deep reddish-gold. One short horizontal mark on the cheek is the only noticeable flaw, and the surfaces are sharply struck throughout. Census: 5 in 66, 5 finer (7/12).(Registry values: N7079)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28GL, PCGS# 8861, Greysheet# 9761)
