1855 $5 MS61 NGC. This frosty yellow-gold half eagle was coined in the midst of the California Gold Rush, although likely contains gold from other sources as the San Francisco Mint was operating at that time. The abraded surfaces have reflective fields and lustrous, sharply defined devices. Census: 11 in 61, 13 finer (7/13).(Registry values: P5)
