Description

1942 Washington Quarter, PR68
Among the Finest at PCGS

1942 25C PR68 PCGS. CAC. Proof Washington quarter output climbed steadily between 1936 and 1942, rising from 3,837 specimens to 21,123 coins over the course of that period. The 1942 production may seem large relative to the inaugural issue, but it poses one of the greater challenges in the series, especially compared to post-1950 proofs. Examples are collectible through PR67, but only an elite few can ever hope to obtain one of the nine top-graded PR68 coins reported at PCGS (12/15). Light multicolor toning is the mark of originality, affirmed by the CAC sticker. Fully struck, as expected, with terrific visual appeal.(Registry values: N991)
