1879-S Dollar, MS68
Unimprovable Type Coin
1879-S $1 MS68 PCGS. Collectors in search of a high-grade
type coin to represent the long-running George T. Morgan silver
dollar design would do well to consider this practically perfect
MS68 example of the second-year 1879-S. Strike detail is nearly as
sharp as a proof, and the untoned surfaces are virtually devoid of
contact, save for a single tick between the second and third stars
right of the date. None are graded numerically finer at PCGS or NGC
