Description
1883-CC $10 VF20 PCGS. Variety 2-C. Four die varieties are known despite a mintage of just 12,000 pieces. Variety 2-C is rarer than the usual marriages 1-A and 1-B. Housed in an old green label holder, so it is little surprise that this wheat-gold coin appears sharper than the designated grade, though the strike is soft on the eagle's neck and fletchings and the curls near Liberty's ear. From the collection of Donald E. Bently, sold for the benefit of the Bently Foundation.(Registry values: N991)
