Description

1852-O Seated Quarter, MS63
Classic Key Date

1852-O 25C MS63 NGC. Briggs 1-B. The New Orleans Mint coined 96,000 Seated Liberty quarters in 1852, and a large number of those pieces were melted since the silver value was actually higher than the face value. Typical survivors grade no better than Very Fine. NGC and PCGS have graded a combined 30 examples in XF40 or finer grades. Only four Mint State pieces are certified: MS61 NGC, MS62 PCGS, MS63 PCGS, and MS63 NGC (9/16). A soft strike is evident on Liberty's head, some stars, and the arrow fletchings on the reverse. Both sides have brilliant silver luster with splashes of gold toning on the reflective surfaces.(Registry values: P7)
