Description
1917 FS-101 Cent, MS65 Red and Brown
Doubled Die Obverse
1917 1C Doubled Die Obverse, FS-101, MS65 Red and Brown
PCGS. The date, IN GOD WE TRUST, and Lincoln's bow-tie are all
clearly doubled on this popular variety. Although not as widely
doubled as the famous 1955 doubled die cent, this variety is more
easily viewed that many other similar varieties in the Lincoln cent
series. It is one of just 10 doubled die Lincoln cent varieties
listed in the 2016 Guide Book, making it an extremely important
issue. PCGS has certified 219 of these in all grades, but only 41
of those grade MS60 or better. This satiny Gem has pristine
surfaces and bold details with pale orange and violet color on its
light brown surfaces. Population: 3 in 65 Red and Brown, 0 finer
(11/15).Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 22BS, Variety PCGS# 37674, Base PCGS# 92496, Greysheet# 310749)
