Description

1858 Three Cent Silver, MS67
Tied for Finest Certified
Rainbow Toning

1858 3CS MS67 PCGS. Struck to the extent of 1.6 million coins, the 1858 three cent silver is the most available of the five issues in the challenging Type Two short set. The second of three distinct designs shows two border lines around the star, and olive leaves and arrows above and below the denomination. The additional design features signify a minor weight reduction and a change in the silver composition. Examples can be located with minimal difficulty through MS65, but Premium Gems are rare. Ownership of a Superb Gem is truly the mark of an advanced specialist. Eye-catching rainbow toning surrounds brilliant centers on each side. Boldly rendered with clear veins on the leaves and well-delineated fletchings. Minimal clash marks. Population: 12 in 67 (2 in 67+), 0 finer (11/15).(Registry values: N4719)
