Description
1888-S Select Double Eagle
Sharply Defined
1888-S $20 MS63 PCGS. The 1888-S is one of the most common
double eagles from the San Francisco Mint struck in the 1880s. It
is readily available in grades below MS63, at which point it can be
found with search and patience. The honey-gold, lustrous surfaces
of this Select specimen exhibits sharply defined motifs, with
Liberty's hair being especially strong. Scattered light marks
determine the grade. PCGS has seen only 46 pieces finer
(4/12).(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26BU, PCGS# 9009, Greysheet# 9944)
