Description

1874-CC Eagle, AU53
Well-Detailed Example

1874-CC $10 AU53 PCGS. CAC. Variety 1-A. Only a single die pair was needed to strike the reported 16,767 1874-CC eagles, most of which circulated extensively, likely within a few years of their production. The 1 in the date is somewhat closer to the bust than to the denticles, and the tiny CC mintmark shows the second C a tad higher than the first and centered under the tip of the fletchings. This wheat-gold example shows far fewer marks than normal for the grade on surfaces that are well-struck and quite eye-appealing. Note the sharp star centrils, the beads in the hair bun, and the well-detailed eagle's feathers. Population: 7 in 53, 14 finer (1/14).(Registry values: N4719)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2658, PCGS# 8670, Greysheet# 9479)

Weight: 16.72 grams
