Reverse of 1878, VAM-4
1880/79-CC $1 Reverse of 1878, VAM-4, MS64+ Prooflike NGC.
CAC. A Top 100 Variety. This dramatic overdate variety shows
the underlying 79 within the loops of 80 in the date, and the
parallel arrow feather reverse of 1878 is a more desirable variant.
Brilliant surfaces display marked contrast between reflective
fields and frosted, exceedingly sharp devices. Even the hair over
Liberty's ear and the eagle's breast feathers feature bold
definition. Grazes on Liberty's cheek and in the lower reverse
fields preclude a full Gem assessment. Census: 9 in 64 (3 in 64+
Prooflike, 1 in 64 ★ ), 3 finer (7/15).Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# AP7P, Variety PCGS# 41131, Base PCGS# 7109, Greysheet# 351819)
