1880/79-CC $1 Reverse of 1878, VAM-4, MS64 Deep Mirror Prooflike
PCGS. CAC. A Top 100 Variety, with a clearly visible overdate.
This variety is usually available in most grades, but not with a
Deep Mirror Prooflike designation. The present piece exhibits
strong cameo contrast with heavily frosted devices amid deeply
mirrored fields. The surfaces exhibit scattered, light,
grade-limiting grazes, but the visual appeal is balanced by a
needle-sharp strike. Just a tint of golden peripheral toning
surrounds otherwise brilliant luster. Population: 17 in 64 Deep
Mirror Prooflike, 3 finer (6/15).Coin Index Numbers: (Variety PCGS# 41132, Base PCGS# 97109, Greysheet# 351820)
