Description

1859-C Half Eagle, Choice XF
Smooth, Appealing Surfaces

1859-C $5 XF45 PCGS. CAC. Variety 2. The 1859-C half eagle is famous among Charlotte issues for having a "fuzzy" eagle due to an improperly annealed die. Although two varieties are known for this issue, both employ the defective reverse. This Choice XF example displays medium olive-gold coloration and fairly clean surfaces. The obverse is sharp. CAC-approved examples of this issue are rare in any grade.
