Description
1859-C Half Eagle, Choice XF
Smooth, Appealing Surfaces
1859-C $5 XF45 PCGS. CAC. Variety 2. The 1859-C half eagle
is famous among Charlotte issues for having a "fuzzy" eagle due to
an improperly annealed die. Although two varieties are known for
this issue, both employ the defective reverse. This Choice XF
example displays medium olive-gold coloration and fairly clean
surfaces. The obverse is sharp. CAC-approved examples of this issue
are rare in any grade. From The Bayside Collection. Consignor's Note: No coins in The Bayside Collection were submitted to NGC or PCGS for regrading or crossover since the coins were originally purchased by the consignor. (Registry values: P4)
Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25VC, PCGS# 8281, Greysheet# 9029)
Weight: 8.36 grams
