Description

1905 Quarter Eagle, MS68
Among the Finest Known

1905 $2 1/2 MS68 NGC. The 1905 is a common date in the Liberty Head quarter eagle series as is evident from the thousands of pieces graded by NGC and PCGS. More specifically, this issue is readily available through the Gem level. MS66 and MS67 coins are more challenging but can still be acquired with a bit of patience. MS68 specimens such as the current offering, however, are a genuine rarity.

Glowing luster radiates from the immaculately preserved surfaces, and a decisive strike delivers virtually complete delineation to the design features. Variegated mint-green and apricot-gold color adorns both sides. These attributes add up to outstanding eye appeal. Copper stains, common place for the year (Jeff Garrett and Ron Guth, 2006), are completely absent. Census: 7 in 68, 0 finer (10/16).
Ex: Summer FUN Signature (Heritage, 7/2009), lot 1339.
