1869 5C PR67 NGC. A scarce issue in all grades (Peters and Mohon, 1995, rank it fifth in rarity in the proof Shield Nickel series), the 1869 is undeniably rare as a Superb Gem. Deeply mirrored in the fields, this untoned, brilliant specimen is fully brought up in virtually all areas. Smooth and essentially pristine, the surfaces are undisturbed by even a single noticeable blemish. Both major grading services combined have seen only seven 1869 Nickels in PR67.
