1885 Gold Dollar, MS66+ Deep Prooflike
Remarkable Eye Appeal
1885 G$1 MS66+ Deep Prooflike NGC. Only 11,100 circulation
strikes were made for circulation of this late-series gold dollar,
and the low mintage from fresh dies occasioned the production of
both some Prooflike and Deep Prooflike survivors today. This MS66+
is one of four Deep Prooflikes in this numerical grade at NGC, two
having the Star, and there are two MS67 ★ Deep Prooflike
finer (3/15). This piece boasts rich honey-gold surfaces with
optimal field-device contrast and no visible distractions other
than a small toning dot in the lower-right reverse field near the
rim. A boldly struck and remarkably appealing coin.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25DP, PCGS# 77586)
