Description
First Year 1794 Half Dollar AU Details
1794 50C AU Details, Mount Removed, Damaged, NCS. O-101a, R.4. A later die state of this more obtainable die pairing, now thought to be among the last 1794 Half Dollars struck, The O-101a is most easily distinguished by the 10-11 berry arrangement on the reverse, and the die crack through the F in OF that takes a sharp turn toward the final S in STATES. This scarcely worn example has pearl-gray centers that yield to deeper gunmetal coloration at the margins. The coin has been so skillfully repaired that much of the damage can only be detected by the unnatural grainy texture of the surfaces.(#6051) (Registry values: N7079)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24E6, PCGS# 6051, Greysheet# 6118)
