Early Transitional Owl
ATTICA. Athens. Ca. 455-440 BC. AR tetradrachm (23mm, 17.13 gm,
5h). NGC Choice XF 4/5 - 4/5, flan flaw. Early transitional
issue. Head of Athena right, wearing crested Attic helmet
ornamented with three laurel leaves and vine scroll / ΑΘΕ, owl
standing right, head facing; olive sprig with berry and crescent
moon behind, all within incuse square. HGC 4, 1597.
