1834 $2 1/2 MS62 NGC. Breen-6138, Variety 1, R.1. A beautiful straw-gold first year Small Head Classic quarter eagle. The mildly prooflike fields are refreshingly unmarked, and the strike is needle-sharp on the eagle and the obverse stars. Liberty's curves on the top of her head are less prominent than on the Large Head subtype. The Classic Head design was produced through 1839, but the Small Head portrait was only struck from one 1834-dated die pair.
