1836 Quarter Eagle, MS61
Breen-6144, Block 8, Head of 1837

1836 $2 1/2 Block 8 MS61 PCGS. Breen-6144, Variety 15, R.2. Considerably scarcer than the Script 8 varieties, this Block 8, Classic Head quarter eagle is lustrous and appealing. Auction appearances are normally limited to a few appearances each year for the Block 8 type. While this elusive, lemon-gold example has the technical quality and eye appeal of a finer coin, a few pinscratches in the left obverse field limit it from achieving an even higher grade. Population: 10 in 61, 35 finer (3/14).(Registry values: P1)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25FU, PCGS# 97694, Greysheet# 8242)

Weight: 4.18 grams

Metal: 89.92% Gold, 10.08% Copper
