1927-D Standing Quarter, MS 66 Full Head PCGS
1927-D 25C MS 66 Full Head PCGS. The 1927-D is well known among specialists as one of the poorest produced issues in the series. If a persistent collector were to locate a Full Head representative, incompleteness of strike on the other highpoints would most likely be a detracting feature. This important specimen does exhibit isolated striking softness, but it is largely confined to the eagle's breast feathers, the lower left (facing) shield rivets, Liberty's toes, and the obverse stars near both the mintmark and the designer's initial. The balance of the features are, however, boldly impressed and the definition on Liberty's head is particularly noteworthy. Lightly toned over lustrous faces, this is a beautiful Gem that is comfortably at home in the finest collection of Standing Liberty quarters. Unsurpassed, this specimen shares the MS 66 Full Head grade tier with only 6 other examples between both major grading services (9/99).Ex: PCGS Registry "East Coast Collector," The Finest Known Set of Standing Liberty Quarters.
