1856-S $20 AU55+ NGC. This attractive reddish-gold No Motto double eagle preserves glints of original mint luster. The issue, which became one of the most available Type One twenties following the recovery of the S.S. Central America, is often found well-struck with above-average eye appeal. This Choice AU example is no exception. Liberty's hair strands are particularly bold, and the stars exhibit complete radial lines. Minor chatter is inconsequential.(Registry values: N1793)
