Description

Gorgeous 1840 Cent, MS65 Brown PCGS

1840 1C Large Date MS65 Brown PCGS. N-8, R.1. The variety is confirmed by the following: a large date that shows a hole in the ear and a large dot in its center, and equal lengths in the foot of the 4 and its crossbar on the right side of the upright. This coin is not often encountered in Gem condition. Indeed, a review of auction records points to only ten MS65 pieces making appearances in the major houses over the past ten years, with just six coins grading higher. The present piece displays lustrous brown surfaces with faint orange undertones. The design elements are exquisitely struck and the surfaces are marvelously well preserved. A simply gorgeous Large Cent that is sure to please the most discriminating copper collector. Population: 9 in 65, 0 finer (7/05).(#1820) (Registry values: N1793)
