Borderline Unc. 1852-C Quarter Eagle, Ex: Pittman

1852-C $2 1/2 AU 58 NGC. Ex: Pittman. A highly regarded and very scarce Charlotte quarter eagle, one of only 9,772 pieces struck. Like many other C and D-mint issues of the denomination, the '52-C is far less obtainable above the XF level. Only a handful of Uncirculated pieces are known. Both sides of this impressively pedigreed example show muted yellow-gold surfaces and typical softness at the center of the reverse. Population: 5 in 58, 2 finer (9/99).
