Description
(Circa 1910) California Irvine & Jachens Gilt Miner Standing Slug XF40 NGC. Unlisted in Hibler-Kappen, but one of many "so-called slug" issues. Bronze gilt, 40.4 mm. Light, even wear on the highpoints has rubbed away the gilt in those areas. A small lump is present at the upper left obverse. This Old Design obverse piece was the first of several slug-replica issues for the firm.From The Jankovsky Collection of California Slug Facsimiles.
