Description
1852 Death of Wellington Medal. White metal, 51 mm, 38.4 gm. Issued to commemorate the passing of Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington (1769-1852), who is renowned in Great Britain for defeating Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. The surfaces are attractively patinated, although some semiprooflikeness is observed in the fields when viewed under a light source. Produced by Allen and Moore of Birmingham, as signed in the obverse exergue. The original circular box with functioning hook latch is included.Auction Info
