Description
France Bronze Medals Paris Mint Restrikes Circa 1869. Bronze, 70 mm, 147.7 gm. Struck for the Universal Exposition in Paris, the medal features the bust of Eugene Louis Napoleon, Prince Imperial. The obverse is the work of Barre and is signed below the bust (Barre 1869). The reverse is the work of Vauthier Galli. The medal appears to have been struck from rusted dies, indicating a later striking. Also included are two bronze (edge-stamped) 41-mm, 36.3-gm portrait medals of Napoleon "Emp. Et. Roi." Both pieces have the same obverse but different themes on the reverse.Auction Info
